I was writing a long political entry but I got so angry and lost my train of thought, so I bagged it. Besides I got people IMing me left and right here. Knock it off! For those undecided, this link should clear things up. This new album from the Beastie Boys is very good. You should get it. There is some really slick production going on there. At the same time though it is kinda raw. Hey! Read this: Bush by numbers. If you support George W. Bush, you should check it out. Now, if your thinking that you can’t be bothered with godless liberal pinko propaganda, or you think nothing can dissuade you in your unwavering support of our enlightened President, you have nothing to be afraid of. Go ahead, just click. They are just ideas from an opposing point of view. A little political discourse never hurt anybody. Thanks to Charm for the gMail account! Skandal! – Fruity sweet wrappers spark complaint My car started acting funny today. I was going down the Autobahn at around 160 KMH (about 100 MPH) to band rehearsal and I pushed in the clutch to slow down when I got to the exit. I then noticed that the steering wheel was heavier to turn and that the power steering wasn’t working. Then I noticed that the engine had stalled. No problem. Just turned the ignition and started it back up. Just like when you stall at a red light when you forget to put it back into first gear except I was traveling at 100 mph. It worked fine at first but as soon as I pushed in the clutch again to stop at the red light the engine stalled again. I could start the engine and shift and drive around no problem, but as soon as I pushed in the clutch the engine would stall. This happened every time till I got to my destination. Why? On the way home it didn’t happen. Could have something to do with the engine having cooled down. I got home just fine. I’ll have Lothar take a look at it if he has time. This is what happened according to Jens. First of all, I explained what the Kirchweih is a few weeks ago. It all went off with out a hitch except for the fact that I wasn’t there. Chopping down the tree, standing said tree up in middle of the village, getting drunk, dancing with girls around tree, and the whole time protecting the tree from getting chopped down from people from the neighboring village. The ceremonies were just over and the last drinks were going around in the bar just off of the Dorfplatz. Some guy went out for a slash and starting yelling and screaming shortly after. Somebody had stolen the tree. Eine Schande!! The most scandalous part of all was that it was stolen by 2 guys who lived in the same village. Supposedly, they were renowned for being super assholes to begin with and because of this they weren’t asked to participate in the festivities. Now the village elders or something are discussing if they should banish them from the village. Old school ostracism. That’s serious. Maybe if I were there, it wouldn’t have happened. Maybe I could have helped in some way and stopped this awful tragedy. Oh the humanity!! Or maybe not. Spent a very interesting day with M’s parents. Went to the Karl May Spiele (info here here and here) in Bad Segeberg and saw a theatrical interpretation of May’s “Unter Geiern”. After that we went into some caves and saw lots of bats. For dinner went to a “typical American” restaurant where I had the Texas BBQ Style Burger. It was a good burger, but it was not a real Texan Hamburger. I’m up so late because yesterday we won an eBay auction but the seller had a shill bidder on the auction. I spent the last few hours researching and writing emails to him and eBay with twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence. He might keep it real, but I keeps it realer. Last weekend I went camping with Detlef at his camping place. The weather was not that great but it didn’t matter because there was plenty of beer and BBQ. See for yourself…. Sequel to this post. But what really happened is as follows: In the week after the show I was asked by a friend why we didn’t play. After further discussion I discover that the show did in fact happen but it said in the paper that we cancelled do to “technical problems”. After a few calls I discover that the promoter did in fact call on Friday before the show and only then informed Marko that either every band brings their own sound system, sets it up, plays for a half hour, and then packs their system back up… or they pay 600€ (as of this post about $725) and they get to use the sound system that is already set up and waiting for the main act, Torfrock. Needless to say somebody on our end told the promoter to go fuck himself. I’ll be damned to pay that much to play with some washed-up one hit wonder. To put it in terms Americans can understand, I would rather pay to open up for Black Oak Arkansas at a 4-H county fair. Jim Dandy to the Rescue indeed! Remember the Kirchweih I wanted to go to on that fateful weekend but had to cancel due to the planned concert? I’m even more pissed about it now. I will give details about the Kirchweih that were relayed to me by Jens. But you will have to wait for that. All I will say now is that Eine Schande wurde über das Dorf gebracht!!Kerry Rocks!

Kirchweih

I know it doesn’t really look like we were roughing it but that’s how they do it here. I don’t mind though.
The wasps were really aggressive. At one point I watched Detlef fleeing down the beach with about 20 wasps behind him. Because I’m such a good friend, I laughed my ass off at his own misfortune. Thankfully neither of us were stung. When it rained we watched some olympics and played lots of rummikub. It’s only Rock and Roll Part II
Okay. The story was first relayed to me as such: Gig was booked for Saturday and up until the friday before we thought we were good to go. On Friday promoter calls and says said gig is cancelled because a sound system was not properly booked in time.
