F.A.Z. – English Version: “A Denglish primer”

Not much too exciting going on. Thursday was a holiday here and Friday is usually taken off as well. So I had a 4 day weekend. I did some rollerblading on Thursday. I also spent a lot of that time re-familiarizing myself with ProTools and getting to know the DIGI 002 Rack. Also interesting is the version of Reason that came with it. I got a small MIDI controller to work with it and using the Rewire function I can sync ProTools, Live and Rewire together. It all sounds very promising/interesting/rad. I just have to sit down and figure it all out. It has been almost 4 Years since I have used ProTools. It is basically the same but there are now a bunch of new buttons and functions I have to get familiar with.

In other news, M’s mom had a dream which somehow has been interpreted as a bad omen for me. I’m supposed to be wary of people who are trying to rip me off and take advantage of my gullibility. Sounds like the standard program. I am usually pretty suspicious of people I don’t know. I play it safe while walking down the street. Yesterday while somebody asked me for a light though, I looked around to make sure he didn’t have his boys around waiting to jump me. So, thanks for the paranoia H! Sheesh.

Vergangenheitsbewältigung

A friend of mine called and asked if I wanted to have my own own radio show here on the local station. We will see if it works out. We’ve been playing phone tag for the last few days so I havn’t gotten the details.

I had planned all week to drive out to Amptown in Hamburg today and buy the Digi 002 R. I have to get some kind of small production unit here and do some music again. I got home from work, got in the car and drove off to Hamburg. I got stuck in some super traffic on the Autobahn for about 1.5 hours. Finally I got out of thee traffic and into the city. This was also the point where the Mapquest directions were completely fucking wrong. I drove around for about half an hour. I decided to turn around and start from where the Internet directions diverted from reality. The roads in Hamburg (I would say Germany as a whole but I haven’t been everywhere) lack clear, concise and unobstructed street signs. I went looking for the road in question and I somehow ended up on the bridge going over the Elbe. This was the exact opposite of what I wanted to be doing. The next chance I had to get off and turn around would put me right back behind all of that traffic I had just sat in on my way into the city. I couldn’t even consider it because it was 6:35 pm and the store just closed at 6:30. Fuckers. So my only choice was to drive back to Lüneburg. Anger. I’ll have to get up early and do it again tomorrow.

I’ve been sipping Jameson whiskey at night. I like it. Just a little now. Don’t want to overdo it. It’s got a taste that you want to savor and appreciate. That’s means you can’t drink too much at a time. If you do, you get drunk and start drinking just for the sake of drinking. And that is a waste.

Today is my dad’s birthday. Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good day you KSHE listening, Dark side of the moon walking, motorcycling tough guy you. I tried to call you, but rumor has it you were “taking a nap”. I know, it’s tough being such a bad ass. People just don’t know how tiring it is.

Best. Pink Floyd Laser Light Show. Ever.

Words fail me. The Dark Side of The Moon show at the Hamburg Planet arium was by far one of the coolest things I have ever seen. It brought tears to my ears. That could have been the fog machines though. I don’t throw around superlatives that often, but seriously, you guys, Dark side of the Moon is like the best album ever. You can debate it a little bit and kick that around for a while but when it all comes down to it, you will see that I’m right. If aliens came to Earth and were looking for some sort of document/art-piece that described the human experience, DSotM is where it’s at. Interesting, this whole blurb here reads like an editorial for the Onion. In that case I will end it like this:

Tonight I’m going to a Pink Floyd laser light show in Hamburg. Like, totally trippy…Man. I’ll be wearing my DSoTM t-shirt of course.

Might have some cool remixes to do in the near future. Now I’m gonna get something to eat in this cool little town.
